This article is under the assumption that you currently understand what Search Engine Optimization is and why it is very important. It also goes into great detail describing the On Page factors of SEO. There are three factors listed below.

1. Keyword and description meta tags should always be used.

Every page that exists on your website needs to have meta tags that are unique to the page. Meta tags are defined as HTML code that is in between tags close to the top of the page wherever you are viewing the HTML code.

If you wish to have a keyword meta tag you must create a comma-separated list of keywords that relate to your Website to increase SEO. These keywords or keyword phrases need to deal with the content on that page.

For a descriptive meta tag you should try describing your website that would attract people to click the link going to your page. Search engines will use meta tag descriptions for the text that describes what your website is about. However, this does not just benefit the search engine itself since it is very likely people will see it and click on the link to your Website instead of another one. This will aid to advancing your SEO.

2. Anywhere you place images on your website, be sure to put in an alt tag.

Anytime you place an image onto your web page your HTML code will have an optional attribute labeled as an alt tag. This means an alternative text and was originally meant for text describing what the picture was about to viewers that came upon your Website. Therefore, those that have images turned off or are using screen reader can have an idea of what the picture is without looking at it. These also help people find out more about your sight and increase SEO.

Any alt tag that you put up needs to relate to your site or describe an image. Rather than just putting header as the alt tag you can use it to describe the image or tell a little bit about your site. If you have a site about dog training you and put something like, "Dog Training Header". This should not be overdone and should aid in the overall SEO.

3. Use header tags wisely.

Header tags like H1 and H2 are what search engines use to deduce what the important keywords are for your Website. Header tag appearances can be easily change with style sheets so normal HTML tags should be used rather than custom ones. The next step is to make sure that the keywords in the header are relevant. The H1 header should have the primary keyword where as H2 should contain the secondary keyword.

Only a small basis has been covered about on page SEO in the article you see here. However, this is a great way to start improving your site and SEO. Now all you have to do in the SEO process is to get good back links to your page.
